The Fury Soccer Club was founded in 1978 by a group of high school juniors seeking to bring soccer to Wickliffe, Ohio. After playing their inaugural season in 1979, the city acknowledged the interest and created a varsity soccer team. Eleven members of the original Fury roster were on the first varsity squad. The members of the club went on to fill the ranks of the youth coaches in Wickliffe for several years before moving on. Several team members also played with the Willoughby Rangers in the Ohio Amateur Soccer League and graduated to various other leagues, including some international play. After being scattered around the world, two of the key founding members reunited in 2019 to reactivate the club. They have been coaching and playing together ever since.
